Welcome to the Spring 2021 Semester!

Have questions about online classes, student email, and more?

We want to make sure you have all the knowledge and tools required to start the semester off right, and have gathered some frequently asked questions from our students below to help you out this Fall. If you have any questions, please call us at 530-895-2511 or email questions@hzdl.net.


Frequently Asked Questions

Email addresses, passwords, and student ID numbers are sent to new students in their welcome letter.

If you do not have your welcome letter or need help retrieving your user name and password:

  1. Please have your Butte College student ID number ready
    1. If you need assistance obtaining your Butte College student ID number please contact our Student Support Center at 530-895-2511 or questions@hzdl.net.
  2. Contact Student Technical Support via phone, 530-895-2925 or email studenttechsupport@hzdl.net.

You will need your Butte College email address (name001@student.hzdl.net) and your password (see FAQ #1 if you need assistance with this step).

  1. Go to zsfi.hzdl.net
  2. Click on “MYBC Portal”

  3. Click on "Self Service"
  4. Enter your Butte College email address and your password.

  1. Log in to MyBC (see FAQ #2 if you need assistance with this process).
  2. Click on “Butte College Student Email” icon:

  3. Enter your college-issued email address and password.

  1. Go to http://canvas.hzdl.net
  2. Enter your user name and password

  1. We do not process automatic adds from the waitlist after class begins, even if there is space. If you're interested in adding the course, email the instructor from your Butte College email account within 24 hours of the start of the course. (The instructor's email address is in the Directory)
  2. Please provide the following in your email:
    1. Your name
    2. Your Butte College ID
    3. Your Butte College email address
    4. The name and control number of the course you want to add
  3. If you can be added, the instructor will send instructions to your Butte College student email account.
  4. It's important that you check your student email account daily. You're encouraged to add your student account to your mobile device.
  5. Questions regarding this process may be directed to distanceedreg@hzdl.net or 530-895-2511.

  2. If you still have questions please contact the Financial Aid Office at: financialaid@hzdl.net. They will respond to your request in the order it was received. Please be patient as there is currently a high volume of inquiries.
Some instructors hold regular schedules for class meetings in the online environment. If there are specific times listed for your online class, you should plan on being present during those times. Some courses may have scheduled interactions determined after the classes start and discussed in Canvas, the college’s online learning environment. Most courses without times are designed primarily for you to have a more flexible weekly schedule, allowing you to complete work for the course at times that are more convenient to you.
